ANU Commits $12.5 Million To Music School

The Australian National University has responded to the recommendations in the Podger Report by committing $12.5 million to address the school's longstanding problems and re-establish its position in music performance education. The ACT government has also committed $250,000.  Acting Head Malcolm Gillies welcomed the opportunity β€˜to look afresh at the range of instruments and vocal styles that are being used and how to rebuild its relationship with the community'.  The Podger Report recommends that the school should aim for enrollment targets of 200 equivalent full-time students and 20 postgraduates, with a further review on its future in 2021 if progress towards these targets is not achieved.
