Swinburne appoints Nicole Wragg as new Chair of Communication Design

Associate Professor Nicole Wragg has been appointed as Swinburne University’s new Chair of Communication Design. In 2017 Associate Professor Wragg established the Swinburne School of Design Bureau, an in-house design studies where students work with industry and academia on communication design projects. In her new role she aims to expand the Design Bureau’s activities with a one-year Honours program and increased research activities.

Mia Lindgren to head Swinburne’s School of Arts, Social Science and Humanities

Professor Mia Lindgren has been announced as the new Dean of Swinburne University’s School of Arts, Social Science and Humanities.

The journalism researcher was awarded the 2015 Anne Dunn Research Excellence Award and is co-editor of the Radio Journal: International Studies in Broadcast and Audio Media. She moves to Swinburne from Monash University where she was the founding head of the School of Media, Film and Journalism. Professor Lindgren will officially take up her post in August 2019.

Using technology to create ‘a better visit’ for people living with dementia

While much media reporting portrays technology as a cause of social withdrawal, a research project by Dementia Australia, Lifeview Residential Care and Swinburne University’s Future Self and Design Living Lab is enhancing communication between people with dementia and their visitors using an iPad.
